Heather is a funny lady. She was born entertaining, making a music hall stage out of her next-door neighbour’s windowseat. The girl flat-out knows how to raise a smile, then a chuckle and finally a full-on belly laugh. She isn’t one to talk at length about the science of comedy or why people find what she does funny, she just gives them a look – and they laugh. Simple as that really.
Heather is a graduate of Bath Spa’s Drama Studies course and met Feargus whilst working on Theatre Royal Bath’s panto schools tour. Her excellent comic timing and eye for character made her the ideal female foil for Sketchy at Best.
Since then she has taken on a leading role in the day to day running of New Old Friends, her methodical working method put to full use. As is her talent for working with young people; her and Feargus coordinated and ran the Fountain of Natural Youth project with the Natural Theatre Company which has now mutated into a regular youth theatre which they still lead together.
Heather’s association with the Natural Theatre Company goes beyond education, she has performed all other the world with them and loves the chance to make people smile, chuckle and yes, belly laugh. Her greatest moment to date though has to be in Anti-Panto, she had to enter a scene out of breath before delivering her lines. Every single sell-out night she delayed her line by simply catching her breath and brought the house down. No witty lines, no slapstick falls, not even a hint of a nob gag, just breathing and a whole lot of laughter.
