MATE

Mate, the hugely exciting first project from New Old Friends was produced in association with the Theatre Royal Bath's egg studio. It ran for three nights to great acclaim and was officially a sell-out.

Mate is a brand new comedy concerned with the lives of two friends, Will and Toni, who share a flat. Their lives are pleasantly uneventful until a third mate, Wes, shows up. Wes isn't unpleasant or unliked, he's just a mate but you know...

New Old Friends are thrilled with the reception of their debut production. The script was/is good, the cast worked well together and the direction of Marc E Brown helped forge a great company spirit. The audiences that made it along all laughed heartily, and all had good things to say to the cast afterwards.

Moments of the play proved contentious, but overall it was a resounding success that WILL be repeated. Josh & Fearg are currently reworking the script to soften some of the harder edges, and address the slight worry it might be too 'laddy'. These are minor concerns though for what was an incredible experience, and a brilliant accomplishment on their first outing. The re-writes and developments will be in evidence when the show reappears in Summer 2009.
